Until You Fall is a roguelike that immerses you in a wonderfully vibrant and colorful planet, then asks you to fight for your life. In Death: Unchained is the Oculus Quest 2 version of In Death, offering the same wonderfully satisfying archery-based combat and slightly horrifying environments as the regular game, but on the fly. While it takes you a while to find your legs in VR, roguelikes aren’t asking for your time, just your long-term commitment. Roguelike games work surprisingly well in VR, especially for gamers who don’t like being immersed in VR for long. It’s not a bloody affair, but intentionally cartoonish, and it’s an absolute blast, a pun. You each salute the other as your weapons load around you, and from there you fire bullets of varying sizes and speeds until one of you runs out of HP. Imagine, if you will, standing in front of an opponent on a strange pillar. If you just want to relax, you can spend hours playing in the sandbox, playing with weapons, and driving a variety of vehicles.
