While VR chat is fun, and it is, it’s also too hectic for many people. Along with the story itself, there are some entertaining modes to play with, and it’s always fun to smash endless hordes of faceless enemies. Every step, every hand gesture, and every head movement you make moves, and you have to make sure you have control to avoid getting shot. Superhot VR takes the same red, blocky enemies of the flatscreen version and puts you between them. Each challenge can easily kill you if you’re not careful, so you must learn to parry, dodge, and dodge if you want to stay alive. This game features fast and blistering melee combat that lets you wield two weapons of your choice as you fight your way through combat. Until You Fall is a roguelike that immerses you in a wonderfully vibrant and colorful planet, then asks you to fight for your life. In Death: Unchained is the Oculus Quest 2 version of In Death, offering the same wonderfully satisfying archery-based combat and slightly horrifying environments as the regular game, but on the fly. While it takes you a while to find your legs in VR, roguelikes aren’t asking for your time, just your long-term commitment. Roguelike games work surprisingly well in VR, especially for gamers who don’t like being immersed in VR for long. It’s not a bloody affair, but intentionally cartoonish, and it’s an absolute blast, a pun. You each salute the other as your weapons load around you, and from there you fire bullets of varying sizes and speeds until one of you runs out of HP. Imagine, if you will, standing in front of an opponent on a strange pillar. If you just want to relax, you can spend hours playing in the sandbox, playing with weapons, and driving a variety of vehicles.

This survival horror game fits exceptionally well into Quest 2, putting players in the shoes of Leon S. Capcom’s 2005 smash hit is considered one of the greatest games of all time, so it’s no surprise to see the VR port make it onto this list. There have been many ports of Resident Evil 4 over the years, but the Oculus Quest version is by far the most exciting.
